What is the role of the Board of Community Partners (BOCP)?

The BOCP will discuss and assist with planning all major project activities by:

  • Sharing ideas from the community with researchers
  • Participating in strategic research planning, intervention design, recruitment planning, program evaluation, and development of materials

3 / year; 1 – 2 hrs/ ea

Two; 1 permanent, 1 rotating* yearly, from partner orgs in each city;

Yearly mtg

1 / year; 4 – 6 hrs

*The permanent member will assure continuity across the project period, while the second rotating member will change annually from one organization to another to increase the diversity of partners represented.

 

How will the information gathered through the Partner Forums and community-based participatory research be used?

The information from the Partner Forums will be used to address community-identified needs and gaps and generate strategies to address the cancer disparity concerns of the community.

 

We will modify and tailor the curriculum to address the specific needs of local community organizations/agencies who will receive the training in the future.

BEACON will share with the larger BEACON network across the U.S. information on the work that we are doing together, how it is being carried out, and what our evaluation of the data tells us
